Fraser Island’s iconic Lake McKenzie plays host to thousands of visitors each year who flock to its white sandy shorefront to witness the crystal clear water & vivid blue depths. Lake McKenzie is a perched lake, meaning that the water that fills it is solely rainwater & it does not flow to the ocean. Being the largest of Fraser Island’s 40 perched lakes, McKenzie is over 150 hectares of pure, pristine fresh water lake. See why it’s so popular?

On a recent visit to this tourist hotspot, I took a quick drone flight over the pristine wilderness to see how it looked from above. In order to keep with local drone laws, I ventured away from the crowds to a secluded corner on the northern end of the beach. Upon take-off I immediately noticed this abstract formation just in front of where I had set up & upon closer inspection, the natural wave-like curl to the shoreline looked incredible & I had to get in closer for a shot!
