On The Edge Events held the inaugural Scenic Rim Ultra on Saturday 5th October 2019 starting at the beautiful Overflow Estate 1895. The event consisted of two courses, a 109km gruelling challenge with more elevation than you can poke a stick at & a shorter, but still incredibly hard, 69km course that just cut off the final hurdles of the 109km trail.
This is the first Ultra to be held in the Scenic Rim & by all accounts, probably one of the most challenging around. The unexpected temperature rise on the day definitely spiced things up but with aid stations/checkpoints spread out at almost 10-15km intervals throughout the course, there was plenty of respite on offer to ensure runners safety.
With the dark settling in well before the first runner crossed the line, it was incredible to watch headlamps of the 80 runners that attended the event, litter the bushy ridgelines that surround Wyaralong Dam as they make their way through the checkpoints & closer to the finish line. The views on offer around the Scenic Rim make this one of the top spots to host events like this & you will see just what I mean when you click on the links below & scroll through some of the photos. I love shooting out here & capturing people enjoying the outdoors in different ways.
Check out all the photos from the day below & make sure to download & share your free low resolution image with your friends & family on social media. We are also selling high resolution images which are perfect for printing at only $10 each!
Congrats to everyone for their efforts on the day & thanks to On The Edge Events for having me on board once again!
